Midsayap Sinugba Festival

As a Filipino, most of us loves to eat and also we are known to have some authentic foods. Filipinos also loves eating grilled foods not only because it is easy to prepare but it is also palatable. Broiled, grilled, barbecued: for Filipinos these are called inihaw and to be particular the Visiyans called it “Sinugba”. Sinugba is a process of preparing by cooking the foods to a direct exposure to radiant heat (as over a fire or under a grill).

The municipality of Midsayap being surrounded by other Municipality of Cotabato and Maguindanao, it serves as a major commercial and trading center of the province where farmers from neighboring municipalities bring their agricultural products to be sold/traded. Grilled foods are more fun in Midsayap because they are annually celebrating the “Sinugba Festival”. This festival is a major event celebrated in this town just like the Halad festival. The Sinugba Festival is celebrated in the month of November, the day before the foundation anniversary of Midsayap. Anyone can participate in said celebration. Families, schools, different barangays of the town, and also tourists coming from different places all over the world can also join this joyous event. In this festival you can see a long row of grill which stretched for around 1 kilometer where Midsayapenos simultaneously grill their foods.

If you think you will be bored when you are there, you are wrong because while you are busy in cooking, there are also live bands performing. There are several stages where theses different bands are performing. These stages are distributed along the long rows of grills. So what are you waiting for? Come and visit the town of Midsayap and try to experience the Sinugba Festival.
